Council approves multiple utility contracts totaling approximately $325,000 for testing, leak detection, lift station work and water-main design

The New Berlin Common Council voted unanimously Feb. 11 to approve four professional services and construction contracts recommended by the Utility Committee.

Alderman Horrenda reported that the Utility Committee (01/28/2025) recommended approval on 4–0 votes for each item. The council approved:

- A professional services contract with R.A. Smith for engineering and consulting for private inflow and infiltration (I&I) dye testing for $82,000, plus a 10% contingency of $8,200, resulting in a total project authorization of $90,200.

- A professional services contract with Westrom Leak Detection for a leak-detection survey for $11,950 (no contingency noted in the transcript).

- A construction contract for the David Lift Station to the lowest responsive bidder, Sable Mechanical LLC, for $68,270 with a 10% contingency ($6,828), for a total not-to-exceed amount of $75,107.

- A professional services agreement with CBS Squared for consulting services related to design, engineering plans, investigations and bidding documents for the Green Ridge Water Main replacement project in the amount of $148,700.

Each motion was presented as coming from the Utility Committee, was seconded, and approved by voice vote; the transcript records unanimous approval for each item. The council did not record additional policy conditions or public comment on these items during the meeting.

Departments will proceed with contracting and project initiation under the terms of the approved agreements and standard municipal procurement procedures.
