Tinley Park board approves paving, landscaping contracts and multiple personnel appointments; rescinds hotel tax-incentive support

The Tinley Park Board of Trustees voted on a series of resolutions and personnel appointments at its March 4, 2025 regular meeting, approving pavement and landscaping contracts, several staff appointments and rescinding prior support for a Cook County Class 7b property-tax incentive application for hotel properties at 9551 and 9555/5580 Third Street.
The board adopted Resolution 2025-R-026, rescinding the village's support and consent to a Cook County Class 7b application for the development at 9551 and 9555/5580 Third Street (the Marriott Residence Inn and Courtyard Hotels). Trustee Dennis Mahoney moved the resolution; the roll call vote recorded all present trustees voting yes and the motion carried.
The board approved funding and contract actions related to the village pavement management program. Resolution 2025-R-020 authorized an appropriation of up to $2,510,000 in motor fuel tax funds for the FY2026 pavement management resurfacing program. The board separately awarded a contract to P.T. Farrell Construction Company for the 2025 pavement management resurfacing projects in the amount of $3,799,944.03 (Resolution 2025-R-021). The board also approved change order number 2 to the 2024 pavement management resurfacing project with Iroquois Paving Corp. in the amount of $200,000 (Resolution 2025-R-025).
The board approved several landscaping and beautification contracts with Cityscape Garden and Design LLC: a landscape bed maintenance contract for $168,396 (Resolution 2025-R-023), a landscape maintenance contract for a property referred to as “Moa” for $274,239.36 (Resolution 2025-R-024), and a contract for planters and beautification in the amount of $94,994 (Resolution 2025-R-022).
Personnel appointments on the consent calendar and by separate motion were approved by roll call. Among them, Samantha Ryan and Megan Nier were appointed to full-time 9-1-1 dispatcher positions effective March 10, 2025; Joseph Zavani was appointed as a maintenance technician; and an appointment to the Sister Cities commission was approved. All recorded roll-call votes on these items carried.
The board took the actions listed above by roll call votes; in recorded tallies for the items that were called the same trustees were recorded as voting yes: Trustee Brady, Trustee Brennan, Trustee Dennis Mahoney, Trustee Shaw, Trustee Sullivan and President Klotz. Trustee Mueller was recorded as absent earlier in the meeting.
