The Cookeville City Council voted Feb. 20 to approve an $218,200 amendment to the engineering contract for the city’s water treatment plant expansion, to cover additional construction administration, construction administration and a resident project representative after construction delays.
Barry Turner, who presented the item, said the project experienced delays related to a chemical building renovation, weather and contractor impacts that have lengthened the timeline by about nine months. The amendment adds contract administration and on-site representation work for the extended construction period.
Vice Mayor Eldridge moved the motion and Councilman Gilbert seconded. The council approved the amendment on a unanimous vote.
The amendment is administrative and does not change the project scope; Turner recommended approval to ensure continued on-site oversight during the extended construction schedule.
