Developer seeks campus-residential rezoning for 8-unit building at 880 North; project in preliminary review

Sirak said the site is surrounded by apartment complexes and that the developer hired a local architect (Ken Harris Architects) and Dudley Engineering to prepare elevations and plans. Sirak described the north elevation that will face 880 North, noted required storefront windows requested by planning staff and said the exterior materials will include brick, lap siding and shingle details on pop-outs.
He said the property owner has already done significant cleanup, removed dead trees and hauled debris. Sirak said the project remains in the city review process and has not yet been scheduled for Planning Commission or City Council hearings; he invited questions from residents.
Council members and attendees raised standard neighborhood concerns about scale, landscaping and compatibility with adjacent apartments. Sirak said similar campus-residential approvals exist on adjacent parcels and that his property directly abuts other campus-zoned developments. No formal council vote was recorded; the presentation was for public comment and information as the project proceeds through city review.
