Early voting underway in Cobb County for Democratic District 2 runoff

Staff member, Cobb County Elections Office, said early voting is underway in Cobb County for the Democratic District 2 runoff and encouraged voters to check their registration and district online.

The staff member said early voting locations include the Cobb County Elections Office and the Smyrna Community Center and that early voting runs through Friday, with election day set for Tuesday, March 11, when 39 precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The office emphasized eligibility rules for the runoff: "See if you're eligible to vote in the D 2 runoff, anyone who voted in the d 2 runoff and pulled a Democrat ballot or if you didn't vote at all is eligible for this election. So the only people who aren't eligible are people who voted for the district 2 primary and pulled a Republican ballot," the staff member said. The office urged voters who are unsure of their district after recent redistricting to consult the state site "nvp.sos.ga.gov" and their My Voter Page to confirm commission district and registration status.

The staff member noted the District 2 seat covers an area that "stretches from Kennesaw all the way down to Atlanta," and reiterated the advice to use the My Voter Page to confirm whether a resident lives in District 2.

The office said it mailed postcards to all registered Cobb County voters earlier in the year with a calendar of election dates and the recipient's commission district printed on the card. The staff member said that because of recent news and redistricting, some residents may not be aware of their current commission district or whether they are eligible for the Democratic runoff.

For voters uncertain about eligibility or district boundaries, the Elections Office directed them to the Georgia Secretary of State’s voter portal at nvp.sos.ga.gov and to their My Voter Page for definitive information.
