Adams County launches online renewals for RV transfer-container permits

Adams County Planning and Zoning staff reported at the March 5 meeting that the department has launched an online portal for annual permits covering RV transfer containers (the tanks used for camper waste). The department said the permit costs $25 per year and that moving the renewal process online has reduced paperwork and processing time.
Planning staff told the committee that under the county’s rule, containers that remain on a property more than seven days a month require an annual permit. Staff said there are roughly 500 such tanks countywide and that about 280 renewals have already been completed through the new online system. The online portal also notifies service providers (pumping contractors) by email to confirm continued service, simplifying the prior paper-based workflow.
Staff acknowledged an initial mailing contained an incorrect link that caused some confusion; the department sent a corrected notice and said the portal has since been functioning smoothly. The department said it will use stored email addresses to automate renewal reminders in future years.
