At the March 5 pre‑meeting the Mobile City Council called a public hearing to fix the cost of demolition of structures at 1622 Duval Street, 2203 Heights Street, and 2079 Victory Drive West. The item was placed on the agenda for public hearing consideration; no final action was recorded in the pre‑meeting.
The council also scheduled a call for public hearing to consider rezoning property at 3300 Norwood Drive from R‑1 and B‑1 to R‑3, with the hearing scheduled in April. Councilors discussed and held over a rezoning request for property at 5301 Moffett Road (B‑2 to B‑3) for two weeks to allow additional meetings with residents; staff said snow and Mardi Gras disrupted efforts to meet with residents and asked for the layover so staff can present an option the city believes is supportable.
The agenda also includes items to consider vacations of city rights of way: one on the west side of Knollwood Drive just north of Medical Park Drive (public hearing called) and one on the west side of Norwood Drive just north of Medical Park Drive (consideration and holdover scheduling discussed to coordinate with the rezoning timeline).
Council members asked staff to coordinate public‑hearing dates so that related rezoning and right‑of‑way items coincide for the convenience of residents who would be affected. No final rezoning votes were taken at the pre‑meeting.
