Locust Valley students named to All‑County and Long Island string festivals; student reps report events and a community donation

Student representatives Jason and Sienna briefed the Locust Valley Central School District Board of Education on student activities Wednesday, including a successful Feb. 26 blood drive and upcoming events: International Night on March 5 (6:30–8:30 p.m.) and a career fair on March 12 (8:30–10:15 a.m.). Jason and Sienna also thanked the board for the chance to speak.
Music director Anne Marie Bonaspina announced that 46 Locust Valley students were accepted into 2025 New York State Music Educators Association (All‑County) and Long Island String Festival Association events. “By participating in these festivals, our students have demonstrated their commitment to excellence in music,” Bonaspina said as she presented certificates to pupils from the intermediate and high schools.
Bonaspina listed students by division during the presentation; among the names called were Alexa Velez, Maria Argelyn, Lucia Mandel, Raymond Martinez, Waverly Shenoy, Alisa Tan, Harry Frazier, Stella Frazier, Jack French and others. The board and administration gave the students a round of applause.
Bonaspina and board members also noted academic recognition: Angel Abid and Abigail Moselli were named valedictorian and salutatorian of the class of 2025. Continuing-education offerings for the spring, including volleyball, yoga and other adult courses, were also announced.
After the consent agenda passed, Anne Marie Bonaspina described an item on that consent agenda: a donation from Nicole Stegelbauer, a community set designer who worked for Saturday Night Live. Bonaspina said Stegelbauer arranged for items built for SNL’s fiftieth anniversary that would otherwise be discarded to be donated to the school’s spring production, Once Upon a Mattress. “She donated them to our school to replace some broken items,” Bonaspina said; additional deliveries were expected this week.
