The Sumner County General Operations Committee voted March 3 to have the County Mayor inventory contents of the vacated Gallatin Square courthouse and submit surplus items to the county surplus system (GovDeals), the committee decided.
Commissioner Jones moved the measure and Commissioner Dunn seconded. Committee members said the inventory is the preliminary step to determine interdepartmental reuse and, if unneeded, surplus sales or disposal. Committee members asked that staff run inventory results through the county surplus process first and then proceed to public sale if items are not usable by other departments.
The committee approved scheduling a follow-up on the item for the May meeting to review the inventory results and next steps. The vote was taken by voice and the chair announced the motion carried.
Staff said the inventory will be used to determine whether the building’s contents should be transferred to other county offices, placed on GovDeals, or otherwise disposed of. The committee directed that the mayor’s office proceed with the inventory and surplus listing and return to the committee with results and recommendations.
