Council reports highlight school collaboration, transit funding status and April firearm-exchange program

Council Member Fields (reporting on Sound Transit matters) said the regional board approved the final allotment of the budget for the last two stations in Redmond and that the segment remains within budget, though the project schedule has been delayed by pandemic and labor impacts. Council Member Fields also reported serving on Cascade Water Lines discussions; the contract with Tacoma is progressing and staff hope to have it resolved and signed by March.
Council Member Stewart said the council budget supports a community firearm-return/exchange event scheduled for April 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Municipal Campus to accept unwanted or improperly stored firearms; more information will be provided by staff. Stewart also flagged upcoming consent and contract items for March 18, including stormwater infrastructure projects and a future report on parking management in urban centers later in Q2 or Q3.
No votes or final policy actions resulted from these committee reports at the meeting; the comments were informational and several items were identified for future staff follow-up or committee consideration.
