City staff told the Economic Development Committee on March 4 that work on the Thomas Street infill parcels is paused pending a DNR phase 2 environmental testing proposal from contractor Ramble.
Randy, a city staff member, said Ramble handled phase 1 and the DNR is awaiting a proposal to begin phase 2 testing and cleanup work. “They’re waiting to get a proposal from them in order to engage them on phase 2 testing,” Randy said.
Staff said other infill lots across the city are available now and the RFQ approved by the committee can be applied to those parcels while Thomas Street awaits environmental clearance. Alder Killian thanked staff for providing more regular updates on Thomas Street than had occurred previously.
No committee action was required; staff said they would return with further information when it becomes available.
