Wichita County says courthouse renovation remains on track despite delayed materials

Commissioner Beecham told the Wichita County Commissioners Court on March 4 that renovations to the county courthouse and courthouse annex are proceeding but awaiting a handful of deliveries.
The county’s renovation project has progressed to punch-list work, but officials reported delays in several finished materials that could affect installation timing.
Beecham said project designers made a minor design change to the adjacent park that did not change the cost but improved buildability and added a secondary exterior egress from the county extension office. That change will give the county extension agent an exterior door from the office. Beecham said the county received some shutters for the courthouse but that one delivered shutter did not fit and another arrived damaged and must be reordered. The door for the courthouse is also delayed, and flooring tile for a bathroom remains on order. Riggles (contractor) is waiting for the floor tile, Beecham said.
Despite the material delays, Beecham said the project schedule remains on target and that invitations for an upcoming event related to the project will be mailed this week. County staff continue to work through punch-list items at both the courthouse and annex.
Work on the park modification and the extension-office egress is intended to improve access and construction efficiency, according to Beecham. Officials did not give a revised completion date for the outstanding items at the March 4 meeting.
