The Centre County Board of Commissioners adopted two proclamations recognizing March as 4‑H Week and March 2025 as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month in Centre County.
A group of 4‑H youth described camp, interstate exchanges and community fundraisers and invited the public to a pancake supper on March 18 in Center Hall. Following their remarks the board approved proclamation number 8 of 2025 by motion and voice vote.
Later the board heard from Cameron Sodino, who said he has severe hemophilia B and serves as an advocate for bleeding-disorders awareness. Sodino described advances in treatment and the costs of specialty medications; he told commissioners that gene therapy and synthesized clotting factors have changed outcomes for many patients and noted that the raw cost of one month’s medication can exceed $300,000 before insurance. “I was very fortunate that because I had such clear communications with my doctors, I was on a pretty intensive prophylactic schedule,” Sodino said, describing how early diagnosis and treatment enabled active youth participation.
The board approved proclamation number 9 of 2025 proclaiming March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month in Centre County by motion and voice vote. Both proclamations were accompanied by photos and brief recognition by commissioners.
The proclamations are ceremonial recognitions and do not create new county programs or budget obligations.
