The Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety on March 5 accepted two resignation letters from members of the Logansport Fire Department.
The board accepted Mike Ott’s resignation effective March 7, 2025. The chief read Ott’s letter to the board and said Ott had been with the department for 12 years, earlier worked for Monticello Fire and most recently served as assistant chief. Ott’s letter says in part: “I would like to announce my resignation from Logansport Fire Department effective 03/07/2025. I'm grateful for the experience, training, and opportunities I've received allowing me a very rewarding career in the fire and EMS service.”
The board also accepted Steve Miller’s resignation from his mechanic position, effective March 5, 2025. The chief said Miller had served as a mechanic for more than 16 years and had saved the city money in repair costs; Miller’s letter states, in part: “I'm resigning as mechanic from the fire department effective 3 5 of 25. I've enjoyed being a mechanic for the fire department for over 16 years. However, I feel that the time is right to resign.” Miller will remain a firefighter with the department.
Both resignations were accepted by roll call; the transcript records affirmative votes for the board members. Board members offered thanks for the employees’ years of service.
Nut graf: The board formally accepted two long-standing department staff resignations; one is a retirement from an assistant chief role and the other a resignation from a mechanic role with continued firefighting service.
Ending: The board thanked both employees for their service.
