City fiber update: 52.1% take rate, circuit upgraded to 15 Gbps; installations to expand in EDA area

Councilmember McDougall, reporting for the fiber committee on March 3, said the city’s municipal fiber network has roughly 2,600 customers and a take rate of 52.1% across the city.
"Current customer count is roughly 2,600," McDougall said. He told the council that during a recent sporting event the network recorded about 11 gigabits per second of usage and that staff upgraded the circuit to 15 Gbps "a few days ago" to provide additional capacity. The committee also reported acquiring a final block of roughly 1,000 IPv4 addresses for the build-out.
McDougall said fiber work in the EDA parcel (Summit X work) is about 70% complete and that customer installations in that area should begin in earnest over the next six to eight weeks. He noted a slowdown in installations over the past month because of weather-related delays.
No formal action was taken; the report was informational and provided committee-level operational updates about network performance, addressing capacity and installation timelines.
