Lake County Library launches Virtual Author Talks, spotlights Clara Bingham's 'The Movement'

Christopher Veach, County Librarian, told the Lake County meeting that the library is launching a Virtual Author Talks series and highlighted Clara Bingham's oral history The Movement as part of March's programming. "Since March is Women's History Month, I wanted to highlight the book, The Movement, How Women's Liberation Transformed America by Clara Bingham," Veach said.
The series, presented in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium and funded by the Friends of the Lake County Library, will feature live, online author events that patrons can watch from home, Veach said. "These are live online events that you can watch from home," he said, and attendees may register on the library website and submit questions before or during the presentation.
Veach said The Movement—described in promotional material as a 559-page oral history of the 1960s and '70s feminist movement—is available through the library in print, audiobook and ebook formats. "Requesting items is completely free, and items are sent to your local branch for you to pick up," he said.
Clara Bingham is scheduled to discuss The Movement on Thursday, March 20 at 11 a.m., Veach said. He also named upcoming guests Dan Heath, author of Reset, How to Change What's Not Working, and Jennifer Weiner, author of the novel The Breakaway.
Veach directed listeners to the library website for more information and listed local access points: Lake County branches in Lakeport, Clearlake, Middletown and Upper Lake, and the bookmobile. "You can find information about this and more on our website at library.lakecountyca.gov, or come visit your local library branch in Lakeport, Clear Lake, Middletown, Upper Lake, or on the bookmobile," he said.
