McHenry CCSD 15 superintendent urges families to check progress reports, notes registration and Landmark School bid deadlines

Superintendent Dr. Wright told the McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15 Board of Education on Feb. 25 that student progress reports were posted last Friday and encouraged families to review them.

Dr. Wright said the district will share weekly updates on engagement with those reports and urged higher participation in the Illinois 5Essentials survey, calling it “a really important thing for families to do” to help the district understand school climate and guide decisions.

He described recurring problems with the state rollout of the 5Essentials survey, saying the launch and communication from the state have been late and inconsistent. “It’s not our problem, it’s the state’s problem,” Dr. Wright said, and asked the community to complete the survey because low return rates (he cited typical returns of 10–15%) make it hard to validate broad changes when results arrive in June.

Dr. Wright also confirmed registration for the 2025–26 school year will open on March 3 at 12:00 p.m. and said administrators hope an early-registration incentive will increase early sign-ups so the district can improve staffing and class balancing.

On facilities, Dr. Wright noted that bids for the Landmark School project are due Friday at 4:00 p.m. and will be opened Monday at 11:00 a.m.; he said the board retains the authority to accept or reject bids after they are opened.

He closed by reminding board members to file annual statements of economic interest and to contact district staff (Kate) with filing questions.
