Parks staff told the council the package covers 22 cameras (16 multisensor units and six pan‑tilt‑zoom cameras), networking and supporting equipment, and the software needed to operate the system. “It's 16 cameras that are called multi sensor, and then 6 cameras that are what they call the pan, tilt, zoom,” a parks staff member said during the meeting.
The staff presentation said the total cost for the consolidated package, including equipment ordered in 2024, is $149,095.40; the city has already paid $24,095.40 from last year’s order. Staff asked the council to transfer funds from the Burkhart Park fund to cover a remaining one‑time amount staff described at the meeting as about $11,601 to complete the purchase and installation.
Council members voted in favor of Resolution 2025‑112 authorizing the purchase and installation; roll call recorded the measure as passing. Staff said the company Mission MSP will install the system and that the cameras (identified in the packet as Verkada security cameras) and software will be delivered and activated as part of the contract. A parks staff member said some cameras already ordered last year are ready for installation and that the full installation could begin in the next couple of weeks once the transfer and scheduling are complete.
The resolution directs staff to proceed with the consolidated purchase; no dissent or amendment was recorded during the council vote.
The council discussion tied this action to a Parks Committee meeting earlier in February that recommended consolidating purchases into one package for installation across city park sites.
