The Quincy City Council voted to concur with the Board of Fire and Police Commission in selecting Steven Sallen as Quincy Fire Chief.
Commissioners and the mayor praised Sallen’s work and the commission’s selection process. The commission chair and others thanked the Illinois Fire Chiefs association and the commission panel for their assistance in screening and interviewing candidates.
The mayor congratulated Sallen and said a formal swearing-in is scheduled for March 3. The council approved the concurrence by unanimous voice vote.
The commission chair noted the commission’s heavy workload this year, including promotional testing for both the fire and police departments, and thanked staff and community stakeholders for their support during the search and promotional assessments.
