- CDBG Disaster Recovery administrative action plan (Item B5): The board received, approved and adopted an administrative action plan for Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds and authorized staff to request a 90-day extension to produce the full action plan; the vote carried 6-1 (Commissioner Wolstol voted no). Staff said approximately 5% of the award (about $35 million) would be available as administrative funds upon action plan adoption.
- Emergency purchases for Hurricane Milton (Item B6): The board approved additional emergency purchases for Water Resources related to Hurricane Milton at an added total of $7.4 million to address sanitary sewer pumps, control panels and compost site remediation; commissioners asked staff to consider engaging minority- and women-owned business enterprises where feasible. Vote: 7-0.
- County administrator contract (Item F3) and internal auditor contract: The board approved a three-year extension and pay adjustments for the county administrator and approved a contract for the county internal auditor; both came by unanimous votes.
Several other consent items and routine approvals were carried unanimously. The board also added a workshop on nonprofit funding guidelines to an upcoming budget workshop (Item F1) and scheduled the Ellsworth G. Simmons good government award event for May 7 (Item F2).
