Chief (Mission Police Department) presented item 16 seeking authorization to buy 29 ballistic-resistant body-armor units from GT Distributors under bid BB-698-23 for $47,305.90, noting the procurement would be funded through a grant from the Office of the Governor. The council approved the purchase by unanimous vote, 5–0.
The council also approved two budget amendments requested by the police department: $55,000 from Fund 10 (state forfeiture account) and $85,000 from Fund 11 (federal forfeiture account). Staff said the transfers would ensure operational expenditures — including training, equipment, uniforms and police gear — are covered for the remainder of the fiscal year. The motion to approve the amendments carried unanimously, 5–0.
Both items were presented as routine approvals with staff and the city manager recommending council approval; no council member opposed either measure.
