The Moorhead Economic Development Authority approved its previous meeting minutes and a package of officer and advisory appointments after discussion about board vacancies.
At the meeting, Commissioner Kim Schofield volunteered for the secretary position and two EDA commissioners volunteered to serve on the Makara Development Control Board. Board leadership then asked for a single motion to approve the officers and volunteer assignments; the motion passed by voice vote.
"But, as Bobby would probably attest if she was here, it's a pretty, low key position," said Derek (city staff member) describing the secretary role and the signature duties the position typically handles.
Votes at a glance - Approval of previous meeting minutes: Mover — Kim Schofield; Second — CODA; Outcome — approved by voice vote. - Approval of officer and advisory appointments (including Secretary Kim Schofield and Makara Development Control Board volunteers Kim Schofield and CODA): Mover — Kim Schofield; Second — Councilmember Moore; Outcome — approved by voice vote.
The board discussed other advisory seats, including a Morehead Loan Fund advisory position reserved for Ward 1, and the relative infrequency of Makara Development Control Board meetings. Members also discussed the Makara real estate RFP review process and agreed to include two EDA board members plus council representatives on an interview committee for broker finalists.
Ending: The board confirmed volunteers and directed staff to proceed with filling the advertised vacancies and to schedule the real estate RFP interviews.
