The North College Hill City Council was told a contract with Iron Mountain Document Capture Services has been extended for 30 days and held first readings on two related resolutions Wednesday, with council members saying they plan to consider suspending readings at the next meeting so deadlines can be met.
Clerk Hedger told the council, “The contract does expire. We did receive an extension today for another 30 days.” That announcement came during communications, when Hedger asked the law director whether council could suspend further readings for Resolution 1-20-25, the Iron Mountain contract measure.
At the meeting council also took up Resolution 02-20-25, authorizing the recreation director to prepare and submit an application for an urban-forestry grant through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and declaring an emergency. City Administrator Mary Jo Duxtine said the items must have their readings suspended and be passed at the next meeting to meet the applicable time constraints: “as long as we are able to suspend the readings on the next [meeting], the 30 day extension for Iron Mountain and the suspension of readings… should be enough to satisfy the time restraints,” she said.
Neither resolution was voted on at this meeting; both were read for the first time. Council members noted they could not legally suspend third readings at this meeting because two members had reported they would be absent. Clerk Hedger and staff said the 30-day extension for the Iron Mountain contract should preserve records access while the council takes action.
The council agenda shows the two items will return for further consideration at the next regular meeting, where members expect to vote on suspending readings and taking final action if required by the grant timeline or contract deadline.
