Grosse Ile Township Zoning Board of Appeals members on Feb. 25, 2025, elected Charles Wojano to serve as chair, approved a vice chair and secretary, and voted to recommend Richard Hopper as a regular member and Kyle as an alternate to the board.
The organizational motions set leadership for the zoning board ahead of upcoming hearings and clarified the procedural next steps for newly approved appointees. Board members said final placement of Richard Hopper depends on formal appointment by the township board and swearing-in by the township clerk.
Board members first approved the meeting agenda and then approved minutes from the July 23, 2024 meeting. After public comment time passed without substantive items, members moved to elect officers. A motion to elect Charles Wojano as chair was made, seconded and passed by voice vote. Board members then filled the vice-chair vacancy after an unnamed member volunteered to serve; the board approved that nomination by voice vote. The board also accepted that Jacqueline "Jackie" Davies would resume the secretary role; board members said she had expressed a desire to serve again even though she was not present.
Members voted to approve Richard Hopper as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. A board member noted that Hopper still must be formally appointed by the township board and sworn in by the clerk before he may take a seat at meetings. The board also approved Kyle as an alternate member; the transcript does not specify Kyle's last name.
All motions reported in the meeting transcript were adopted by voice vote; no recorded roll-call tallies were provided in the transcript. After completing organizational business the board moved to adjourn.
The approvals set the board’s leadership and membership roster for the coming term; final seating for at least one appointee remains contingent on township board action and clerical swearing-in.
