Resident praises electrical department during Escanaba budget public hearing

At the city’s Feb. 20 public hearing on the 2025–26 budget, resident John Anthony — a self-identified member of Escanaba’s City Electrical Advisory Committee — spoke in favor of the electrical department’s budget proposal and praised the department’s staff for prioritizing reliable, cost-conscious service.
Anthony said he represents homeowners and businesses and that the Electrical Advisory Committee and the City Electrical Department have focused on infrastructure, compliance and planning for future delivery needs. He named Jerry Pohlka, Josh and Jill (members of the city electrical team) and said the department had been “diligent and dedicated” in serving ratepayers.
The hearing was the second of five scheduled budget hearings; no other members of the public spoke on the budget at this meeting and the hearing was closed with no immediate council action beyond receiving public input.
