Adams County approves $1,000 grant for EMA decontamination trailer floor liner

Adams County commissioners voted to approve a $1,000 grant application to help pay for a floor liner for a newly acquired Emergency Management Agency (EMA) decontamination incident command trailer.
The funding decision followed a presentation from EMA staff explaining the county sold its old decontamination trailer at auction for $4,700 and purchased a new 8½-by-16-foot trailer from Indiana Trailer Sales. EMA staff said the trailer has arrived and been paid for and that a private vendor has volunteered to donate labor and parts to complete interior installations such as heating, air conditioning, shoreline power and internet access.
Megan, an EMA staff member, told the council that the department sought a floor liner to protect the trailer’s wood floor and received a quote of about $1,200 for the liner. "We sold our old decon trailer at the county auction for $4,700," Megan said, and later told commissioners that Rev had "volunteered to donate all the parts and all the labor to take care of the entire interior of the trailer for us." The department applied for a foundation grant and was awarded $1,000; EMA staff said the remaining balance will come from the department’s equipment fund.
A commissioner thanked Rev for the donation during discussion and moved to approve the grant application; the motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote.
The EMA presentation said the trailer and outfitting are intended to create a portable incident command capability that any first-responder agency in Adams County can use. EMA staff said they plan additional work, including developing matching trailer graphics consistent with existing EMA vehicles and installing a protective spray line along the floor and ramp. Details about the total interior outfitting budget beyond the floor liner were not specified in the council discussion.
Commissioners and staff asked for a copy of the grant paperwork and affirmed that the commission had previously approved the trailer purchase. EMA staff said they will follow up with LEPC/EMA members about the graphics and the anticipated timeline for the liner installation.
