East Canton public works reports on parks, water tower connection, potholes and catch basins

Village service department staff reported maintenance and capital-work progress, including parks equipment purchases, building organization, road maintenance and the water tower connection status.
Staff said two new items for parks (transcript term: “mediators”) were purchased and will be presented to council at the next meeting. In building maintenance, service staff said they completed organizing the service garage office and procured paint supplies for the police department’s exterior door.
On roads, staff reported pothole repairs using cold patch and noted a delay when a required chemical additive was not immediately available from suppliers; the additive was expected to be available the following Monday. Staff also said they picked up a dead deer on Nassau and that several catch basins are beginning to fail; cones are in place while repairs are scheduled. Staff asked residents for patience as crews prioritize repairs when weather permits.
Regarding the water-tower project, staff said crews have completed the hookups so that both the old and new water lines are fully circulating; the final disconnection of the old line and permanent connection to the new main will occur after the tower is painted. A resident expressed concern about an asphalt berm on the north side of the road; staff said they will require the contractor to restore any previously existing features before final payment.
Staff closed by asking for questions and said they anticipate scheduling paving work with North Star so related street repairs are done together.
