The Republic City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city administrator to engage Storecom Incorporated to provide a storage area network (SAN) solution, upgrades and five years of ongoing support.
Michael Salih, data and security supervisor, said the city’s current storage device is just under six years old, has reached capacity and has begun to show issues. He said the new solution will increase video camera coverage, improve quality and lengthen retention for parks, the aquatic center and other departments that rely on camera footage. Salih told the council the city went to bid multiple times and received compliant proposals; staff recommended Storecom based on warranty and service terms, including a five‑year warranty and 24‑hour emergency hardware turnaround.
Council confirmed the purchase was budgeted in a prior year but will be moved into the current fiscal year and brought forward as a budget amendment. The resolution was approved on an immediate vote with an 8‑0 roll call.
