Wheeling presents donations and retirement proclamations for 9‑1‑1 leader and public‑works employee

The board read a proclamation recognizing Rokela Rogers for her career leading the Wheeling/Des Plaines 9‑1‑1 dispatch center and her role in transitioning the Wheeling dispatch into the Northwest Central Dispatch system. The proclamation recited Rogers’ career starting in 1987 and cited alignment of the center with standards from the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). The proclamation noted Rogers’ progression through roles including radio operator, telecommunicator, operations manager and director of 9‑1‑1 services and recognized her retirement.
The board also issued a proclamation honoring Scott Stiff for 25 years of service in the Department of Public Works. Remarks noted Stiff’s work as a certified arborist in streets and forestry, his role managing the village water meter program and a 9,000-unit battery replacement effort related to the village’s automated meter reading deployment between 2022 and 2024, his service as a Class A CDL instructor, and his service in the U.S. Army as a logistics master sergeant. Stiff was presented with the proclamation and offered brief remarks thanking staff and family.
Trustees recessed briefly afterward for refreshments and announced public notices including voter-registration and mail-ballot application deadlines.
