DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — The Denham Springs City Council approved a noise variance for an outdoor religious crusade at Denham Springs High School’s Yellowjacket Stadium, allowing amplified events from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on scheduled dates in mid‑March.
Richard Blue, co‑chairman of the Go Tell Livingston Parish Crusade, told the council the event will feature visiting evangelist Rick Gage and said organizers had secured the high school stadium. “It’s not gonna be any different than I think a regular high school football game, unless preacher y’all is real loud,” Blue said during the hearing.
Councilmember Gilbert moved to approve the variance and Councilmember Wesley seconded. The motion carried on a recorded roll call with Councilmembers Dugas, Gilbert, Lamb Williams, Poole and Wesley voting yes.
Organizers and staff told the council the requested hours were 7–9 p.m. nightly; a councilmember clarified the times during questioning. The variance application will allow the event to proceed with amplified sound during the approved hours.
The council did not attach additional conditions in the minutes; staff will follow standard permitting processes for noise variances and event permits.
