Troy council authorizes up to $295,000 for Riverside Cemetery office and Sarah Hayner Dickey Chapel renovations

The Troy City Council on March 3 adopted Resolution R13-20-25 authorizing the Director of Public Service and Safety to solicit bids and enter into a contract to renovate the Riverside Cemetery residence office area and the Sarah Hayner Dickey Memorial Chapel at a total cost not to exceed $295,000.
The city’s building and utilities committee reported that funds for the renovations are included in the cemetery endowment fund (fund 672) and recommended preparation of legislation to proceed with advertisement for bids. Council suspended the rules to allow immediate action and then voted to adopt the resolution on first reading.
Motion to suspend the rules was made by William Twist and seconded by Bobby Phillips; the motion to adopt was moved by William Twist and seconded by Samuel Pierce. Roll-call votes recorded all members present voting in favor; Susan Westfall was excused. The resolution directs the Director of Public Service and Safety to proceed with bid advertisement and enter into a construction contract up to the approved amount.
