Votes at a glance: Story County Board of Supervisors actions, March 4, 2025

The Story County Board of Supervisors recorded the following actions during its March 4, 2025 meeting. All outcomes below reflect motions that were moved, seconded and approved by recorded voice votes unless otherwise noted.

• Adopt agenda — Motion to adopt today's agenda was moved and seconded. Vote recorded: Supervisor Merkin, yes; Supervisor Edens, yes. Outcome: approved.

• Proclamation — Adopted a proclamation recognizing March 2025 as National Women's History Month. Outcome: adopted.

• Personnel actions — Approved personnel actions as listed in the agenda packet (motion moved and seconded; recorded voice votes in favor). Outcome: approved.

• Consent agenda — Approved items listed on the consent agenda. Outcome: approved.

• Fax services contract — Approved acceptance of a quote from eGoldFax to migrate 17 fax lines to an eFax service and directed the IT director to proceed (initial setup fee $543.46; estimated monthly all-in $200; plan covers up to 2,500 pages per month). • Dayton Ridge Plat 2 — Approved Resolution 25-71, a preliminary plat for Dayton Ridge Plat 2, with a staff-recommended condition to update the driveway easement legal description and re-record it with the final plat; the board also approved the applicant’s alternative-compliance request for a flag lot. • Full-time hire request — Approved posting and hiring for a full-time administrative assistant in General Assistance and Veterans Affairs to start in FY 2025. Outcome: approved.

• Edward J. Byrne (JAG) grant sponsorship — Approved Story County serving as the local government sponsor for a JAG application from the Center for Creative Justice for a resource navigator position; fiscal-agent duties and documentation to be clarified with the Auditor's Office if the grant is awarded. Outcome: approved. (See separate article for details.)

• Closed session and personnel review — The board entered closed session under Iowa Code §21.5(1) to evaluate the professional competency of an individual at that person's request. After returning to open session, the board approved the annual performance review of the director of internal operations and human resources as discussed in closed session. Outcome: approved.

• Adjournment — Motion to adjourn passed.
