County board approves right-of-way dedication along County Trunk Highway N

The measure, which passed without recorded opposition, was described at committee as a routine housekeeping action tied to a development just west of County Trunk Highway UE and was recommended for approval by the Public Works and Facilities Committee. Supervisor Grady, who moved the resolution, told the board the change is common during expansions and asked for approval; Supervisor Gama seconded the motion. After brief remarks and no further questions, the chair called the vote and declared the resolution adopted.
The board also received a report from Supervisor Grady on Public Works and county facilities. Grady said the county has hired additional patrol workers for road repairs, installed radar speed signs on County JB, completed roof repairs at Pringle Nature Center, is planning a new storage building at Brightendale, and has constructed a new restroom facility at Springs. He said Kemper Center will receive exterior restorations and chapel upgrades, and that the longstanding Simmons gymnasium door replacement is on hand but not yet installed. Grady also said a planned 25-kilovolt line work involving Bradford, Willowbrook and Brookside is scheduled for June 16 and will require a multi-hour power shutdown.
Procedural items: the board approved minutes from the Feb. 19 and Feb. 26, 2025 meetings (moved by Supervisor Franco; seconded by Supervisor Decker) by unanimous voice vote. Several county executive appointments and ordinance items were referred to committees for further consideration, including: Shane Hollerick to the Kenosha County Local Emergency Planning Committee (referred to Judiciary and Law Enforcement Committee) and Sarah Caldum to the Kenosha County Board of Health (referred to Human Services Committee). Two ordinances (Ordinance 17 and Ordinance 18) were introduced on first reading and referred to the Legislative and Executive Committee; communications on a county highway program, a plat plan acquisition, and issuance authorization for general obligation bonds for waterway projects were referred to the Public Works and Facilities, Finance and Administration, and Planning committees as noted on the agenda.
