Council adopted a resolution authorizing conveyance to EIC Enterprises LLC for $1 and approved a development agreement with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank that includes $20,000 in infill housing grant funds to facilitate relocation of two homes.
Joel Anderson, Community Planning and Development Director, told the council the two houses being moved are currently assessed at about $45,000 each on Lafayette Street and that typical lot values in the receiving area range from roughly $85,000 to $120,000. The city will provide the standard $5,000 infill housing grant per house and an additional $5,000 per house for relocation efforts under the development agreement; the council action aggregates those amounts as a $20,000 infill housing grant in the motion and agreement.
A resident asked where the houses were coming from; staff identified the source addresses as 1633 and 1637 Lafayette Street. The developer will bear moving and foundation costs; city staff will provide the $5,000 infill assistance plus $5,000 relocation assistance per house as described in the development agreement. The council approved the resolution and the associated development agreement by roll call.
