Cary board approves consent agenda; sets FY26 budget workshop and highlights staff changes and events

The Cary Village Board on March 4 approved its consent agenda items A through G by unanimous roll call.

Trustees McAlpine, Dudek, Walrath, Weinhammer and Collier voted yes on the motion; the mover and seconder were not stated in the meeting record. The board then moved on to staff and department updates.

Mayor (unnamed) recognized Brian Simmons for 10 years of service in the military and praised his work overseeing the village's zoning and planning appeals functions. The mayor also introduced Nicole Collingbourne as the deputy village clerk and said Nick Radcliffe will start as the village's new assistant village administrator; the mayor noted Radcliffe is coming from the city of Maringo.

In a staff update, Doctor Simmons briefed the board on the fiscal year 2026 budget timetable and upcoming events. "We're currently in developing our fiscal year 26 budget. Workshop is planned for next Saturday, March 15 at 9AM, that the public is welcome to attend," Doctor Simmons said. He also noted the Hillstrider half marathon will be March 16 at 8:30 a.m. starting at Cary Grove High School and encouraged residents to respond to a regional transportation survey from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.

Doctor Simmons added that planning for the Cary Main Street Fest 2025 continues, that several sponsorship opportunities have sold out, and that the village's spring cleanup will be Saturday, April 26 for areas south of the railroad tracks and Saturday, May 3 for areas north of the tracks. "That opportunity, again is offered as part of our annual waste hauler contracts," Doctor Simmons said.

No department heads reported items requiring board action at the March 4 meeting.
