Sheriff's office reports jail population, new leadership and asks community to support county K‑9 units

A sheriff's office representative said the county remains responsible for transportation and court appearances for inmates placed in treatment through outside providers, and those people continue to appear on the sheriff's population lists even though treatment providers handle some aspects of care.
The sheriff's office also noted the Burlington Strong campaign is raising money at the Burlington Snow Ball to support the county's five canine units; organizers are selling shirts and directing proceeds to the K‑9 program.
Officials said the Greater Brunswick Partnership will tour the jail and receive a presentation about jail operations, an annual outreach opportunity intended to inform community leaders about the office's work.
