County commissioners say regional homeless task group may deliver updated interlocal agreement

Commissioner Jordan told the board on March 4 that a regional group of stakeholders who traveled to Whatcom County last year to review successful ballot and service models has continued monthly meetings and may soon present an updated interlocal agreement for regional homeless services.
Jordan said community partners including the city, county and the Valley city are discussing ways to align resources, share data and broaden participation. "The next step that might come forward is an updated interlocal agreement," he said, and the city of the Valley is interested in joining what had previously been a city–county arrangement, staff said.
Commissioner Ward and other commissioners said they expect staff to circulate the updated document when ready and that the board will review any recommended changes. No final action or vote was taken; Jordan said jurisdictions may sign an updated agreement before the next regional homeless meeting and that the item would return to the board for review when appropriate.
