OKCPS superintendent highlights enrollment dates, nutrition efforts and Bond 2025 investments

Superintendent Dr. Polk told the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education that enrollment for the 2025–26 school year is open and the district will hold in‑person enrollment assistance on March 27 and April 22 to help families complete the process. She also urged families to meet with teachers before Feb. 7 and to complete or opt out of FAFSA paperwork for graduating seniors.

Dr. Polk described school nutrition efforts for National Nutrition Month and thanked the nutrition services team for providing “thousands of nutritious meals” each day. She said the district’s Team campaign aims to raise $85,000 this year to support mentoring, tutoring and enrichment programs and cited last year’s donations as part of a reading improvement effort that “helped increase reading scores by 7 percent in high needs schools.”

On district systems, Dr. Polk said OKCPS has launched a financial‑literacy training initiative led by Sydney Ward to strengthen leaders’ understanding of school finance and align budgets with the district’s strategic goals. She said the training is intended to support long‑term planning and ensure budget decisions “support student learning, school improvement, and operational efficiencies.”

Dr. Polk also summarized Bond 2025, saying it will fund upgrades to learning spaces, technology and infrastructure so schools remain “safe, modern environments.” She directed families to okcps.org/okcpsbond22 for bond progress updates and said the district’s general counsel is leading policy work to strengthen operations.

Board Chair Paula Lewis responded, “It's a great report. Thank you,” and board members briefly asked follow‑up questions about the number of eighth graders who participated in recent career‑exploration visits and thanked bus drivers and school staff for their work.
