House passes maintenance appropriations for education-related agencies

Representative, District 21 introduced the measure on the floor and described it as a maintenance package for the State Board of Education and related entities, including agricultural research and extension services, community colleges, career technical education, the charter school commission and others. The sponsor said the bill contains contract inflation and standard maintenance items similar to other maintenance bills already considered by the legislature.
The sponsor said the bill is coordinated with related appropriation bills and that passing it now aids scheduling and transmittal to the Senate. After brief debate, the bill passed the House by recorded vote (65 ayes, 1 nay, 4 absent/excused) and will be transmitted to the Senate.
Representative, District 21 said agencies included in this bill were not covered by earlier K–12 maintenance that had already passed and that the measure allows the legislature to move forward on related trailer and appropriations bills.
The bill will be sent to the Senate for its consideration and any further action.
