The DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee voted to approve the recommendation to adopt the 2025 Water Quality Improvement Grant Program project rankings and funding recommendations. The motion was moved by Member Desartes and seconded by Member Evans; the committee voted in favor and the motion carried.
Staff said the 2025 round drew 10 applications and was "one of our more robust in recent years." "Over $4,100,000 worth of projects was submitted," a staff member said, adding that staff ranked and evaluated applications and identified six qualifying projects to move forward.
"These projects are all around the county and, we look forward to bringing intergovernmental agreements or agreements with each of these entities going forward," the staff member said. The staff member also noted that applicants included municipalities, park districts and private homeowners associations.
Committee members asked about marginal applications. A member observed that some applicants "really didn't have anything to do with water quality," and staff replied: "Yes, we had and we had a couple that technically didn't qualify for water quality grants, but we're actual stormwater projects. So we're going to reach out to them and find out if there's a way we can help them moving forward." The committee approved the recommendation after that discussion.
The committee did not provide a roll-call vote tally in the meeting transcript; the motion was recorded as carried.
