Finance staff reported that the division received a $72,396 School Improvement Grant for James Blair Middle School from the Virginia Department of Education's Office of School Quality and said an amendment to the FY25 grants fund budget will increase the grants fund to $8,591,307.
The grant is a competitive allocation intended to support identified schools with resources to implement sustainable strategic-improvement strategies aimed at substantially raising student achievement, staff said. Trustees were asked to review the addition and be prepared to vote at the March 18, 2025, meeting.
