Yakima County commissioners voted during the March 3 work session to send a letter of support for Opportunity Industrialization Center’s (OIC) homeless‑veterans reintegration program.
Commissioner Lindy moved to forward a draft support letter to OIC and Commissioner Curtis seconded the motion. The clerk, Julie Lawrence, said she would prepare the letter for signature and transmittal. The motion carried by voice vote when the board called for those in favor; commissioners recorded verbal “ayes” and the board adjourned after completing the item.
The letter, as described by the sponsoring commissioner, requests county support for OIC’s program to assist homeless veterans; staff did not provide additional financial commitments at the work session. Julie Lawrence will prepare the final letter and transmit it to OIC per the board’s direction.
