Separately, the board considered a letter of support for the Astria Toppenish Hospital emergency department modernization project. Commissioner McKinney moved to approve the letter as provided; Commissioner Lindy seconded. The motion passed on an "aye/aye" vote.
At a public hearing the board considered a nonexclusive, systemwide 25-year franchise application from GigaBeam Internet LLC to construct, operate and maintain communications systems in and under county rights of way. Matt Petrushevitz, Yakima County engineer, summarized the application and recommended approval. No members of the public registered or spoke during the hearing. Commissioner McKinney moved to place the franchise application on a future agenda for consideration and resolution; Commissioner Lindy seconded. The motion carried on an "aye/aye" vote.
An executive session to discuss potential litigation under the Revised Code of Washington was held earlier in the meeting; no action stemming directly from that session was recorded at the public meeting.
