Yakima County commissioners approve consent agenda including Yakama Nation agreements and GigaBeam franchise

The Board of Yakima County Commissioners unanimously approved the consent agenda at its Feb. 25, 2025 regular meeting, adopting a set of contracts, amendments and resolutions that included a nonexclusive franchise for GigaBeam Internet LLC and agreements with the Yakama Nation and Yakima Health District.

Julie Lawrence, clerk of the board, read the consent items into the record, which the board adopted without discussion. The package included accounts payable warrant approvals; minutes from Feb. 11 and Feb. 13, 2025 meetings; County Roads Resolution 41-2025 granting a nonexclusive systemwide franchise to GigaBeam Internet LLC; an intergovernmental agreement with the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management; a labor agreement for county clerk nonsupervisory employees with Teamsters Local Union Number 760; and several human services and housing-related agreements and amendments involving the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Yakama Nation, the Yakama Nation Housing Authority and the Yakima Health District.

Commissioner McKinney moved to approve the consent agenda “as read into the record.” Commissioner Lindy seconded. The board then voted in favor; commissioners present said “aye” and the motion carried.

The clerk noted the agenda items are posted on the Yakima County website. The board also held two executive sessions under RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) during the meeting to discuss employee performance and applicant qualifications; the board announced no action was taken after both sessions.
