The district’s business office briefed the Board of Education on the tax warrant and levy calculations before the board voted to approve the warrant.
The business official said the district’s levy increase was 5.09% — at the tax cap — and noted a tax-base growth factor of about $1,200,000 during the budget process. The presentation said changes in assessment values varied among the three municipalities that make up the district (Beacon, Fishkill and Wappingers); Fishkill and Wappingers saw larger assessment increases than Beacon. The presenter said Beacon’s homestead tax rate per $1,000 decreased to 11.73 from 11.98 despite the levy increase.
The board approved the tax warrant by roll-call vote, 8 to 0.
