Local parents introduce GLSEN-affiliated group seeking gender-inclusive policies and supports

A parent who said the group formed in 2023 said it includes more than 30 families and has worked with school PTOs and librarians to expand inclusive practices. The parent, identifying herself as a Beacon parent of two, listed goals that include ensuring each school has at least one safe gender-neutral bathroom, expanding professional development for staff on LGBTQ+ inclusion, reestablishing year-round GSAs in each building, improving mental-health supports for LGBTQ+ students and continuing community outreach.
The speaker thanked the board and superintendent for past support and said the group looks forward to continued collaboration. Board members did not take formal action during the public comment period.
