Board adopts small wording changes to code of conduct to reference 'personal internet-enabled devices'

The board opened a public hearing where district staff member Matt explained the revisions were small, largely language updates to align the code with a policy the board adopted July 21 on personal devices. Matt said the phrase appears on pages 12, 13, 18 and 32 of the code and that one change replaces “removal of a student cell phone privileges” with “removal of a student's ability to bring personal internet-enabled devices to school and or confiscation of device.”
The hearing generated no public comment. The board closed the hearing and then voted to approve the updated code of conduct; the motion passed 7 to 0.
The change does not create new prohibited conduct in the text discussed at the hearing but updates phrasing to reflect the district’s device policy, according to Matt. No additional revisions or delegations were recorded during the vote.
