Canyons parents show board how quickly porn appears on school accounts; board directs study for March 18

Parents told the Canyons Board of Education on March 4 that school-issued accounts and district Wi‑Fi allow easy access to pornographic material, and the board asked staff to study possible technical and policy fixes and return with recommendations at its next meeting.
During the meeting Ally Terry, who identified herself as a parent, said she could locate pornographic videos “in less than 15 seconds and four clicks” while logged on to a Canyon School District account and browsing the district guest Wi‑Fi. Terry cited a Utah state code provision in support of stronger filtering and said the district’s current filters were “not compliant” with that law as she understands it.
