Lewis Group reports fabrication delays, security upgrades and phased work at district schools

A Lewis Group representative told the Washington County Board of Education that metal fabrication delays have slowed work at two schools but that contractors are mobilizing to meet school‑start deadlines.

The consultant said crews are working on interior framing of administrative areas while steel fabricators complete metalwork; the fabricators expected to deliver materials soon, and the contractor is preparing two teams so work can proceed simultaneously at both schools. Lewis Group noted the district's target completion dates tied to summer move‑in and the first day of school, and urged close coordination with construction managers to avoid disruption.

Board members asked for earlier schematic versions and for a side‑by‑side review of the initial, proposed, and bid‑response drawings. Lewis Group offered to bring the initial schematics and subsequent iterations to a follow‑up session so the board could compare the designs and understand how bids became more elaborate after feedback.

A district representative confirmed work will continue and that move‑in and turnover dates are set by the project schedules; the consultant said she would coordinate with mechanical and structural engineers to answer specific technical questions at the workshop review.
