Senator Missy Irvin, District 24, presented Senate Bill 280, a technical bill addressing references following last year's reorganization of the state's geological functions. She said "Act 6 97 of 2023 abolished the Arkansas geological survey and placed the office of state geologists within the oil and gas commission. What this bill does is it fixes a reference to that, which was missed in the last bill and allows the oil and gas commission to consolidate assets with the office of state geologists."
Committee members asked no questions and no one in the audience registered opposition. Senator Irvin closed by thanking the Department of Energy and Environment and staff who assisted. Senator Gilmore moved the bill and Senator Crowell seconded; the committee advanced the bill by voice vote.
